Football is undoubtedly the most viewed sport in the world, with an ever growing support community all over the world, unrelentingly expecting great and dashing performance from their various teams.

Apart from the collective tactical displays from the team as a whole, football followers and supporters always gets thrilled with the natural frightening pace some players possess.

Speed as we know, is one of the major and imperative abilities in football not just because it gives a player an edge over his opponent, but also because it allows a player evade opponents in counter attacking situations.

In years past , some well known and naturally gifted players have dominated this list, today this list has taken a whole new complexion as the new generation of footballers have overtaken the ageing and retired one's.

We shall critically take a look at the fastest  footballers so far 2018. In no particular order, the following are the fastest  players;

Antonio Valencia has been a regular in this list in the recent years, maintaining an outstanding level of performance over the years.most people thought his deployment as a right full back would see the  dawn of his career but he has managed to prove such speculations wrong as he has always maintained his fine form.

Some may wonder why he is still in this list after a lengthy period of no game playing caused by injuries but it will be unfair to exclude him from this list considering the level of performance he put up last season, leading Manchester United to a second place finish in the English premier league. The Ecuadorian played an integral role in Manchester United's second place finish last term, captaining the club to their highest league finish since 2013, after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Gareth Bale is also another regular in this list, proving his abilities again and again. The Welshman whose fine form and speed prompted real Madrid president, Florentino Perez to cough out a whopping €100m in 2013 to land the then Tottenham Hotspur forward.

Bale boasts of an enviable cabinet of trophy and awards which were all practically won at real Madrid. mbappe is such a wonder to watch, signed from monaco on loan in the summer of 2017, it didn't take long for him to establish himself as a top man for the french giants.

Mbappe crowned his efforts in the 2017/2018 season by helping france win their first world cup since 1998 and was voted the best young player of the tournament.
